What is individual therapy?
Individual therapy is one-on-one time with a therapist who is there for you and only you. Together we’ll look at your thoughts, your emotions, and the experiences that shaped them, at a speed that feels safe enough to keep going.
Anxiety, depression, trauma, and chronic illness rarely stay in their lane. They spill into your relationships, your work, your sleep, and the things that used to be fun. Therapy gives you a place to sort through that, build coping skills, and reconnect with your strengths. (Everyone has them, even on the days it doesn’t feel true.)
You bring your lived experience. We bring our training. From there, we figure out what feeling better looks like for you.
Not sure therapy is for you yet? That’s a pretty normal place to start.
What brings people to therapy
Tap anything that sounds familiar. You don’t need a diagnosis, or even the right words, to start.
Anxiety that won’t let up
Your mind runs through every possible outcome before you’ve gotten out of bed, and your body stays braced for something that hasn’t happened.
Depression and low mood
Things you used to enjoy feel flat. Getting through the day takes most of what you have, and the rest goes to looking fine.
Trauma, recent or long ago
Something happened, or a lot of things did, and it still shows up in your sleep, your relationships, or how safe you feel in your own skin.
Living with a chronic illness
You’re juggling appointments, symptoms, and other people’s opinions about your body, and hardly anyone asks how you’re holding up.
Medical trauma
Being dismissed, misdiagnosed, or hurt in a medical setting can make every new appointment feel like walking into a fight.
Burnout
You’ve been running on empty for so long that rest feels unfamiliar. Maybe even a little suspicious.
Grief and loss
Losing a person, a version of your health, or the life you had planned. Grief doesn’t keep a schedule, and it doesn’t need to.
Identity and coming out
Figuring out who you are, coming out, or handling family and work as an LGBTQ+ adult, with a therapist who won’t need a crash course.
Relationship patterns
You keep landing in the same arguments or the same kind of relationship, and you’d like to understand why.
Feeling numb or disconnected
Days blur together. You show up for things, but it feels like watching your life through a window.
A harsh inner critic
The voice in your head is meaner to you than you would ever be to a friend.
Big life changes
A move, a breakup, a new diagnosis, a new job. Even good changes can knock the ground out from under you.
Don’t see yours? Bring it to the free consult. Plenty of people start with “something feels off.”
A few things we’d like you to hear
Your reason doesn’t have to sound big enough.
Feeling stuck is plenty. So is being tired of feeling this way.
Yes, you can come in and just cry.
We’ll have tissues. Virtually. Laughing is allowed too, sometimes in the same session.
Stepping away won’t make you forgotten.
Take a break whenever life calls for one. Your spot stays open.

What can change in therapy
Progress rarely feels dramatic from the inside. It tends to show up first in small, ordinary moments.
Your shoulders come down from around your ears more often, and stressful moments pass faster.
The inner critic still pipes up from time to time. You just get better at talking back.
You can ask for what you need or say no without spending three days recovering from it.
Even with a hard history or a body that doesn’t cooperate, there’s more room for the people and things you love.

Questions people often ask
Still wondering about something? Send it our way and we’ll answer it personally.
Ask your questionWe’ll get to know each other, talk about what’s bringing you in, and go over how therapy works here. You share as much or as little as you want. Plenty of people spend the first session just getting their bearings.
No. A lot of people come in knowing only that something feels off. Figuring out the rest is part of the work.
Then that’s what the session is for. Tears are welcome here, and so are long pauses.
It depends on you. Some people come for a few months to work through something specific, and others stay longer. We’ll check in regularly about how it’s going and what you want next.
Research shows telehealth can be just as effective for many people. You also get to attend from your couch, with your own blanket and possibly your own cat.
