Nothing tapped yet. That's okay too.
You tapped .
These are signs of a nervous system that's been working overtime. Somatic therapy helps it learn, slowly and gently, that it's allowed to rest.
Your body speaks up in everyday ways.

Start with what you feel.
Somatic therapy works from the bottom up. Instead of starting with the story, we start with your body, then bring in talk-based tools once your system has room to use them.
Step 1
Notice
Gentle check-ins help you notice sensations like warmth, tightness, or stillness, without needing to fix or judge them.
Step 2
Settle
Grounding, breath, and gentle movement help your nervous system shift out of high alert. You stay in control and can pause anytime.
Step 3
Connect it to your life
CBT, Cognitive Processing Therapy, and relational work help link what your body feels to your story, so the changes hold up day to day.
What somatic therapy here feels like
Somatic work can sound mysterious. In practice, it's gentle, collaborative, and always your choice. Here's what you can count on.
At your pace
Somatic work goes slowly on purpose. You'll pause often, and nothing moves faster than your body is ready for.
You're the expert
Only you know what you feel. Your therapist offers invitations, never instructions, and you can always say no.
Gently challenging
Sometimes growth means staying with a feeling a little longer. Your therapist will support you there, never push past your limits.
No surprises
You'll know what each exercise is for before you try it. Sessions are online, so there's never any physical touch.
Always welcome back
Your body will keep learning between sessions. If you step away for a while, the door stays open.

A few things your body might need to hear
Why Empower Wellness is private pay
Paying out of pocket is a real investment. Here's what it gets you, and how superbills can help you get some of it back.
- A diagnosis is required just to start, and it becomes part of your insurance record.
- Your plan can limit how many sessions you get or which approaches are covered.
- Treatment has to keep proving it's "medically necessary."
- You're limited to therapists in your plan's network.
- You and your therapist decide what therapy looks like, together.
- Nothing is shared with an insurer unless you choose to submit a superbill.
- Session frequency fits your life and your nervous system, not a policy.
- You get specialized trauma care, whether or not we're in your network.
3 questions to ask your insurance
- Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits?
- Have I met my out-of-network deductible this year?
- What percentage do you reimburse for CPT code 90837?
Superbills include a diagnosis code, which insurers need for reimbursement. Reimbursement isn't guaranteed and depends on your plan.

Questions people often ask
Still wondering about something? Ask it on the form and our team will answer it personally.
Ask your questionWhat is somatic therapy?
Somatic therapy pays attention to what's happening in your body, like tension, numbness, or a racing heart, and uses gentle tools to help your nervous system settle. At Empower Wellness, it's paired with talk-based approaches like CBT and Cognitive Processing Therapy.
What does a somatic session look like online?
You might notice your breath, track where you feel tension, try a grounding exercise or gentle movement, or simply pause with a sensation. Talking is still part of it, alongside these body-based tools.
Is there any physical touch?
No. All sessions are online, and somatic work here uses guided awareness, breath, and gentle movement only.
Do I need to be flexible or physically active?
Not at all. Everything can be done seated or lying down, and it's adapted for chronic illness, pain, and low-energy days.
What if paying attention to my body feels uncomfortable?
That's really common, especially after trauma or with chronic pain. You'll start small and gentle, and you can always shift your focus or stop.
What can somatic therapy help with?
It's often used for trauma, anxiety, chronic stress, and feeling disconnected from yourself. It can also help with the stress of living with a chronic illness.
Who do you work with?
Adults 18 and older who live in Ohio, in individual therapy. Empower Wellness has a special focus on the LGBTQ+ community and on people living with trauma, chronic illness, anxiety, and depression.
Do you take insurance?
Empower Wellness is private pay and provides superbills, which you can submit to your insurance for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Check with your plan about your benefits.
