Does any of this sound like you?

Tap anything that fits. Nothing is saved or sent anywhere. This part is just for you.

Nothing tapped yet. That's okay too.

You tapped .

None of this is a flaw in you. Much of it is a natural response to a world that isn't always safe, and it can get lighter.

Talk it through on a free call

Minority stress is real, even when it's quiet.

It often hides in everyday moments. Tap a card to see what might be underneath.

Room to exhale, then room to grow.

Living on guard takes a toll on your body. So we start by helping your nervous system settle, then make room for the bigger story, at a pace that feels safe.

  1. Step 1

Let your guard down a little

Somatic tools help you notice the tension you've been carrying and find moments of real safety in your own body.

  2. Step 2

    Quiet the old messages

CBT and Cognitive Processing Therapy help untangle beliefs like "I'm a burden" or "I have to earn acceptance."

  3. Step 3

Build the life and community you want

Relational work on boundaries, chosen family, and connection, so you feel like yourself everywhere, not just in session.

Affirming care, every single session

Affirming care isn't a sticker on the door. It shows up in how every session works. Here's what you can count on.

At your pace

No timeline, and no pressure to come out or pick a label before you're ready. You lead, and your therapist checks in often about how it's all feeling.

You're the expert

You know your identity and your life. Your therapist won't define it for you or ask you to justify it. Sessions are a collaboration, never a lecture.

Gently challenging

Support doesn't mean just nodding along. When you're ready, your therapist will kindly nudge you toward what's next.

No surprises

You'll know what each session is for and what's coming next. Your name and pronouns are respected from the very first call.

Always welcome back

Life gets busy, and growth isn't a straight line. If you step away for a while, the door stays open.

Things you deserve to hear more often

You don't owe anyone an explanation. Not about your identity, your body, or your timeline.
Your chosen family counts.Bring them into the story whenever you like.
You're not too much. You're just you.Every identity, every body, every story.

Why Empower Wellness is private pay

Paying out of pocket is a real investment. Here's what it gets you, and how superbills can help you get some of it back.

  • A diagnosis is required just to start, and it becomes part of your insurance record.
  • Your plan can limit how many sessions you get or which approaches are covered.
  • Treatment has to keep proving it's "medically necessary."
  • You're limited to therapists in your plan's network.
  • You and your therapist decide what therapy looks like, together.
  • Nothing is shared with an insurer unless you choose to submit a superbill.
  • Session frequency fits your life and your nervous system, not a policy.
  • You get specialized trauma care, whether or not we're in your network.
3 questions to ask your insurance
  1. Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits?
  2. Have I met my out-of-network deductible this year?
  3. What percentage do you reimburse for CPT code 90837?

Superbills include a diagnosis code, which insurers need for reimbursement. Reimbursement isn't guaranteed and depends on your plan.

Getting started is simpler than you think.

Questions people often ask

Still wondering about something? Ask it on the form and our team will answer it personally.

Ask your question
What makes Empower Wellness LGBTQ+ affirming?

Empower Wellness is LGBTQ+ owned, and affirming care is built into how we work, not added on. You won't need to educate your therapist about your identity or defend it.

Do I have to talk about my identity in therapy?

Only if you want to. Some people come in to explore identity, and others come in for anxiety, depression, trauma, or something else entirely. You decide what's on the table.

Can therapy help if I'm still questioning?

Yes. You don't need a label to start, and there's no pressure to land on one. Therapy can be a place to explore at your own pace.

Will you use my chosen name and pronouns?

Always. Share what you'd like us to use on your free call, and we'll use it from then on.

Does online therapy work as well as in person?

For many people, yes. Being in your own space can make it easier to relax and open up. On your free call, you can talk through whether online therapy feels right for you.

Who do you work with?

Adults 18 and older who live in Ohio, in individual therapy. Many of the people we work with are LGBTQ+, and many also live with trauma, chronic illness, anxiety, or depression.

Do you take insurance?

Empower Wellness is private pay and provides superbills, which you can submit to your insurance for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Check with your plan about your benefits.

What if I stop therapy and want to come back later?

You're always welcome back. Life happens, and growth isn't a straight line. Just reach out when you're ready.

Is this the right place if I'm in crisis?

This practice isn't set up for emergencies. If you're in crisis, call or text 988 to reach the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, or call 911.
