Yes, you can come in and just cry.

(We'll have tissues. Virtually.)

Does any of this sound like you?

Tap anything that fits. Nothing is saved or sent anywhere. This part is just for you.

Nothing tapped yet. That's okay too.

You tapped .

None of this means you're broken. These are ways a nervous system learns to protect you, and they can change.

Talk it through on a free call

Trauma rarely looks the way it does in the movies.

Sometimes it looks like the everyday stuff. Tap a card to see what might be underneath.

Before you keep reading, take one breath with us.

In for four, out for six. Stop whenever you want. There's no wrong way to do this.

Body first, then the story.

When your body is stuck on high alert, insight alone rarely sticks. So at Empower Wellness, we start from the bottom up, then bring in skills once your system has room to use them.

  1. Step 1

    Settle your nervous system

Somatic tools help you notice what's happening in your body and find your way back to steady, so you're not running on high alert all the time.

  2. Step 2

    Make sense of what happened

Cognitive Processing Therapy and CBT help untangle the beliefs trauma leaves behind, like "it was my fault" or "I can't trust anyone."

  3. Step 3

Build a life that feels like yours

Relational work on boundaries, connection, and saying no when you mean no, so the changes hold up in real life.

What therapy at Empower Wellness is like

Therapy works best when it feels like a real relationship. Here's what you can expect every time you work with us.

At your pace

There's no timeline you have to hit. You'll go as fast or as slow as your body allows, with regular check-ins on how it's feeling.

You're the expert

Your therapist knows a lot about trauma. You know your life. Sessions are a collaboration, never a lecture.

Gently challenging

Support doesn't mean just nodding along. When you're ready, your therapist will kindly nudge you toward the next step.

No surprises

You'll know what each session is for and what's coming next. Being transparent is part of feeling safe.

Always welcome back

Life gets busy, and healing isn't linear. If you step away for a while, the door stays open.

Why Empower Wellness is private pay

Paying out of pocket is a real investment. Here's what it gets you, and how superbills can help you get some of it back.

  • A diagnosis is required just to start, and it becomes part of your insurance record.
  • Your plan can limit how many sessions you get or which approaches are covered.
  • Treatment has to keep proving it's "medically necessary."
  • You're limited to therapists in your plan's network.
  • You and your therapist decide what therapy looks like, together.
  • Nothing is shared with an insurer unless you choose to submit a superbill.
  • Session frequency fits your life and your nervous system, not a policy.
  • You get specialized trauma care, whether or not we're in your network.
3 questions to ask your insurance
  1. Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits?
  2. Have I met my out-of-network deductible this year?
  3. What percentage do you reimburse for CPT code 90837?

Superbills include a diagnosis code, which insurers need for reimbursement. Reimbursement isn't guaranteed and depends on your plan.

Getting started is simpler than you think.

Questions people often ask

Still wondering about something? Ask it on the form and our team will answer it personally.

Ask your question
Do I need to know exactly what my trauma is before I start?

Not at all. Many people come in knowing only that something feels off. Figuring out the rest is part of the work, and you never have to label it to deserve support.

Do I have to talk about the worst thing right away?

No. Because we work from the bottom up, early sessions often focus on helping your body feel safer. You decide what you share, and when.

What if I just cry the whole first session?

Then that's what the first session is. Crying is welcome here, and so is not crying.

What is somatic therapy?

Somatic therapy pays attention to what's happening in your body, like tension, numbness, or a racing heart, and uses gentle tools to help your nervous system settle. It's paired with talk-based approaches like CPT and CBT.

Does online trauma therapy actually work?

For many people, yes. Being in your own space can make it easier to relax and open up. On your free call, you can talk through whether online therapy feels right for you.

Who do you work with?

Adults 18 and older who live in Ohio, in individual therapy. Empower Wellness has a special focus on the LGBTQ+ community and on people living with chronic illness, anxiety, and depression.

Do you take insurance?

Empower Wellness is private pay and provides superbills, which you can submit to your insurance for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Check with your plan about your benefits.

What if I stop therapy and want to come back later?

You're always welcome back. Life happens, and healing isn't linear. Just reach out when you're ready.
